With their sophomore album, Ruining It For Everybody, iwrestledabearonce highlights both the chilling screams and soothing melodies that vocalist Krysta Cameron has become known for, while mastering the combination of heavy music and glitch electronics. Breaking the rules with the release, Shreveport, LA band bludgeons with the best of them, their polyrhythmic groove fueling the chaos while simultaneously channeling their inner Radiohead as they elegantly exorcise emotions. The album swings between breakneck guitars and haunting choruses, glitchy electronics and vaudevillian death metal, and raw darkness. Through it all, despite the seemingly excessive amalgam of genres, the band comes off as heavier, catchier, and better organized, with the hopes that they've created something their fans can clench onto during the world's madness.
Ruining It For Everybody debuted at #75 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its May 2011 release, which follows a debut of #121 on the same chart and #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart for their first album, 2009's It's All Happening. In the time since, the group has performed on the Vans Warped Tour and toured with everyone from Dillinger Escape Plan to August Burns Red. This album is the next step for the band as they express new thoughts and beliefs that have formed since their debut, without holding anything back. Select tracks deconstruct the danger of unquestionably trusting authority, and trying to rationalize religion, politics, and environment. This deconstruction carries through in a literal sense to their live shows, where they promise to continue breaking more stuff and having more fun than ever before. Iwrestledabearonce is Krysta Cameron (vocals), Steven Bradley (guitar, keyboards, programming, samples), Mike "Rickshaw" Martin (bass), Mikey Montgomery (drums), and John Ganey (guitar, keyboards, programming, samples).
